Notes on USB Detailed instructions
OK, now that 7.0.2 is out there for the masses, I've been seeing people have a few glitches with the installation. It's not software problems, but the Release Notes that shipped with the code have been updated for clarity since it was packaged, and those new instructions aren't out on the web yet. So - if you haven't installed the code on your key yet, here are the 3 items that others are tripping over:
1. When to type in that long command. Do this AFTER you unpackage the exe file that you download from the Passport site. Some people are trying it directly from the packed code, and that doesn't work. Expand the code to a folder somewhere on your hard drive, navigate to that folder using a command window, then type: setup /a /v"NOMAD=1 TARGETDIR=F:\ /qb+"
2. Don't forget that last quote mark. It's the difference in success and failure. The line above has no extraneous quotes in it. Use it and change the F: to your drive letter for your USB key.
3. Don't try this with the Full Client. It was never coded to work with this installation type. If you use with the Full Client code, you're on your own. If you want to hack the key after installation to add the developer and admin client, read this at Chris Miller's site. (And you are on your own as far as support for the full client, but it DOES work.)
