Recap/Refresh/Rethink
Sorry for the silence lately. I've been busy. I was slammed with AdminEurope this year. The really heavy work schedule, coupled with the pre-seminar touring with Francie's Mom as a tour guide really tool a toll. So much so that I caught Francie's travel karma and ended up missing the flight home, resulting in 2 airline change fees plus an extra night (on my tab) for the mistake. No one to blame but me. If I had stayed up the entire night like everyone else, I'd have gotten the airline's phone call telling me to go to the airport. Many thanks to Chris, Lisa, Rob and Andy for comforting the blubbering, panicky NotesGoddess at the Barcelona airport. Everything is fine except my personal AMEX, which is still smoldering over in the corner.
Lotusphere deadlines have come and gone, and I actually managed to get into the Dolphin - which is amazing. I will be renting space on my floor to the highest bidders if you can't make it back to your offsite hotel. I'll be presenting 4 times. Kathleen and I are doing a DDM Hands-on at the brutal hours of 9:00 AM Sunday and 8:00 AM Tuesday. I'll also be teaming up for the first time with Paul Mooney for All Things Mail Jumpstart at 10:30 AM and 4:00 PM on Sunday. No - actually due to a snag in scheduling, Warren Elsmore will help to do the first one and I will do the latter one. Then on Tuesday at 3:00 PM, I've been invited to help present AdminBlast. The multi-speaker format was piloted at AdminEurope (with no rehearsal) and was quite a hit, so we'll actually practice this time. Be there for either session, the Monday or Tuesday session, but either way, fasten your seatbelts, because there is a lot of great info provided at an unbelievable pace.
Finally, this has been a pretty sad month for me, but it's making me take stock, slow down, count my blessings and look at my future with new eyes. Kathleen blogged about the loss of Jonathan. I can't say enough about what kind of loving person and spreader of happiness and light Jonathan was. He also had great wisdom, as shown by this blog entry of his from this summer. Then another close friend died at age 63 last Friday. Not as young as Jonathan, but still too young. So as I go into the new year, I'm going to be re-assessing the direction of my own life, trying to find ways to do what I used to enjoy before work intruded so heavily on life, and to give more back to the universe. I am doing nothing related to work this week. Nada. Zip. Time to relax.
hmmm.... I hear sleigh bells............................
