Loss in preseason game 2

My wife put her own spin on Zach's Mite 3 team loss to the team from Gilmour.  As I was not there, I'll let her tell it like she saw it.

Next game is a home game vs. Shaker Heights on Saturday afternoon.

Myriad of Wings Season Previews

Back on Monday several of the bloggers that I read put out their season previews/reviews for the Wings, and just in case I'm your only portal into the hockey (and specifically Wings hockey) world, then here's what they are saying:

Behind the Jersey - Detroit Red Wings Season Preview

Gorilla Crouch - NHL Central Division Preview: Detroit Red Wings

Kukla's Korner (by George James Malik) - Detroit Red Wings 2007-2008 Season Preview

Gloveside.net - 2007-2008 Detroit Red Wing Preview

Abel to Yzerman - 2007 Wing Preview: Stand by for 11

Preseason and New Jerseys

Zach's Mite 3 travel hockey preseason started on Sunday with a 4-4 tie vs. Wooster.  He's got a game tonight vs. Gilmour over on the east side, which Kath will take him to so that I can get Katie to and from her dance class, then get her to bed at a reasonable hour for her.  The week of games rounds out with a home game vs. Shaker Heights on Saturday.  Looks like the site for the standings for mites for the preseason, and I presume regular season is here

Update 9/26 - Ok, that link above doesn't work quite right, not sure why, but to get to the standings, go to CSHLHockey.org, then go to 2007-8 Season, then find 2007 Mite Preseason.

Their team is #120, Strongsville M3.

They don't seem to have Sunday's game's scores up, at least for our game, but since we were the visiting team, I know that wasn't our responsibility.

To his delight his real authentic game-ready jerseys finally got into our hands last night.

He loves being able to see his name on the back, and also thinks it's cool the that the logos on the two jerseys are different.

Hmm...what could Zach possibly want to be when he grows up?

No Way...

Ok, baseball hardly ever makes it onto this blog, but with the Indians cruising into the post season supposedly, who knows...

Anyway I saw this while I was away this week, and had to point you to it:

Can you believe that?

In Dallas this week

Leaving for Dallas around 12:15 today for a conference which goes until Thursday.  May or may not be blogging any during that time.

Lots going on at home while I'm gone, so may just direct you over to Kath's blog...that is, if she ends up having any time to herself to get something written! :)

Fantasy Hockey and Totally Scored

Couple-a-things...

My post inviting anyone interested in being involved in a Fantasy Hockey league, back a week or so ago didn't get much (ok no) response, and I'm chalking that up to it being a bit to long before the season starts...  We'll I've gone and joined a few teams in public leagues that still have a few spots open.  If there is more interested than there are spots in the leagues I've gotten into, then I'll be happy to start up another league so we can all get together on our own.

Here's the leagues I've joined and some specifics about them:

- Cup Crazy 2008 Rotisserie; Positions - 2C/2LW/2RW/1W/2F/4D/2Util/2G/5B/1IR; Stats - G, A, +/-, PIM, PPP, SHP, GWG, SOG, W, GA, GAA, SV, SV%, SHO; Currently 4 spots open for teams

- The AHL Connection Head-to-Head; Positions - 2C/2LW/2RW/3D/1Util/2G/4B/1IR; Stats - G, A, +/-, PIM, PPP, SHP, GWG, W, L, GAA, SV%, SHO; Currently 2 spots open for teams

Okay, enough of the "Fantasy" Hockey...

Saw this on Lifehacker the other day - Follow your favorite teams via RSS on Totally Scored.  I signed up and got scores for a couple of baseball teams I peripherally follow.  Nice to get them in my feed reader instead of never remembering to go out and look anywhere else... This will be a great help come hockey season in the coming weeks.

9/11 Remembered by our 7 year old

Kath wrote this beautiful piece yesterday, had to share it with you.

Please comment here, or on her blog, if you have any thoughts regarding what she said that you'd like to share with us.

Basically Finished

Man, she beat me to it...

Kath posted about the state of the newly remodeled room we've been working on for a couple of weeks, so I won't go into too much more here, but I did take some extra pictures of the room early this morning before I went in to work.

This set is basically a clockwise spin around the room shooting at all 4 corners..

Imagine a framed poster of some Wings Stars on the wall with the phone, and one or more others on the wall with the low black table unit in front of it.

Hoping to get the items we intend to put up professionally framed via Kath's Creative Memories Custom Framing Business

It's so nice to have our little Wings shrine in place!  And with plenty of time to go before the regular season starts.

GO Wings!

Another TRON?

Saw this pop up in a post over at Slice of SciFi (who's podcast I'm about 15 episodes behind of...but that's another matter).

I thought I'd send this story your way, as it seems like it might be up some of our alleys!

I'll try to stay on top of news on this one, as I'm intrigued to see what they would do with it this many years later.

Would you think they'd do a sequel or just a "re-imagining"?

Kukla’s new look

Paul's site - Kukla's Korner got a new look just in time for the upcoming hockey season.  Go take a gander.

Very nice job!

Hoping to spend a bit more time there this season commenting and such.  Of course only as time, and life, and church, and Zach's hockey season, and Katie's dance classes, and work, and who knows what else...permits.

;)

Finally!

Got the go-ahead from my boss yesterday, and I officially registered for Lotusphere 2008 this morning!

My co-worker and I are still debating about which place we'll be staying at, and based on what I've pre-looked at, we probably should decide soon... Looks like we may have a pretty packed house down there!

Woohoo! Blatnick to IBM

I was so happy to read on Chris' blog last night that he's been hired by IBM!

I thought there might be an inkling of this when I saw him last month at the get-together we NEOLUGers had in honor of Ed's (unfortunately aborted) visit to Cleveland.

Good luck in the new endeavor Chris!
