Spring League Games 6 and 7
Just as the Wings went on a tear with that 8-2 close-out game of their second round series with Colorado, our Mustangs team has gone on their own scoring run, they've scored 17 goals in their last two games against Rocky River and Parma.
Saturday morning's game against Rocky River got off to a slow start with only 1 goal scored by both teams in the openning stanza, John scored the first goal by the Mustangs. In the second period, John again tallied one and Teddy scored 2. In the third period the boys once again scored 3 goals this time one by Boddy, one by Max, and Teddy potted a 3rd to complete his hat trick. Zach Snyder stood tall in net and kept all but that first goal early in the game out of his net. The boys had won their 5th game of the spring league season 7-1.
Game 7 just wrapped up a little while ago, and my information is second hand from Kath who was there in the stands, and from Zach who of course was on the ice. All I know was that there were 10 goals scored by our boys, it was pretty chippy (this is coming from Zach, and Kath - IM or email me later if you want more details) and that we kept the puck out of our net. Goals scored as follows: Boddy - 3 (hat trick!), Teddy - 2, Torin - 2, Zach - 1, Andre - 1, John - 1. Zach says his shot was a backhand from the left face-off dot, that went off the post, then off the goalie and in! He apparently split his shifts between offense and defense in the two halves of the game, which he has been doing a lot of lately as the coaches experiment and give all the players chances to vary the positions that they play.
So as of today the Mustangs are 6-1 in the league with 2 more games to play (one more against Parma and another against Wooster) before the apparent 10th game (which is handled sorta like a playoff between the two teams with the top records.) Who will we meet up with? I've got a hunch I know...
